Man on the Moon

I am quite excited for the new IMAX movie about the moon landings. Tom hanks has teamed up with Gary Goetzman and the IMAX corp to develop Magnificent Desolation: Walking on the Moon 3D. The film is also sponsored by NASA and Lockheed Martin.

How the IMAX 3D system works:

"The IMAX 3D projector simultaneously projects two strips of 15/70 film, one for each eye, onto a special silver IMAX 3D screen. Each member of the audience must wear IMAX 3D glasses, which channel the right-eye image to the right eye and the left-eye image to the left eye. Some IMAX theatres use P3D glasses, which have polarized lenses that separate the left- and right- eye images. Other theatres use E3D glasses, which utilize electronic liquid crystal shutter technology. The 15/70 film format used by IMAX is ten times larger than a conventional 35mm film and three times larger than a standard 70mm film. The sheer size of a 15/70 film frame, combined with the unique IMAX projection technology, is the key to the extraordinary sharpness and clarity of films exhibited in IMAX theatres."

Here is a link to the movie trailer.

The film opens in 3 weeks and I will be sure to snag my ticket for the King of Prussia IMAX experience.

Part of my interest in this subject dates back to when I was a little kid. I went to Space Camp when I was in 4th grade and have always had a love for the stars. My family and I took a trip through the south and I went to camp for a week in Huntsville, Alabama.

I think space and the idea of exploration is an excellent way to get young students interested in the area of math and science.

Study Time

I am back in Pennsylvania now and ready to continue my MBA studies at Villanova. This summer break was amazing. I spent the first half in Italy at the SDA Bocconni School of Management. The second half I drove from Villanova to Berkeley, California to work for a startup company called Aspera, Inc. I am good friends with one of the co-founders as we worked together when I was just a young buck back in Kansas.

One of the other things that I enjoyed about this summer was the free time to do some catchup on lesiure reading. Including books that I listen to on my drive I finished eleven.
